the installation features 120 “Dolos” modules that are playful inflatable two-sided seats that can easily flip in different directions. The Dolos grouping, presented in a vivid blue palette, creates a common gathering space for conversation and community. The Dolos shape was inspired by giant concrete blocks designed in the 1960s by engineer Eric Mowbray Merrifield as seashore erosion protection.

“I wanted to create playful and unconventional seating that is not a stool, chair or bench. It is in between. The modules are two-sided, light and easy to manipulate into different seating configurations. The installation reflects a human landscape while providing an unexpected experience.”
